ANTIOXIDANT, ANTIBACTERIAL, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITIES OF BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS IN Rheum tanguticum

摘要The levels of bioactive compounds were compared in Rheum tanguticum Maxim. ex Balf. from different regions of Qinghai Province. A method using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with diode array detection (DAD), using gradient elution on a C-18 column, was developed to detect eighteen bioactive compounds in the Rh. tanguticum samples collected from fifteen natural growing areas. Cluster analysis was carried out to explore differences in the samples. Redundancy analysis was used to analyse the correlations between compounds and latitude, longitude, and altitude. Seventeen compounds were detected in the samples. Fourteen of them were found in all samples. Three of them were detected in several samples, but at relatively low levels. One compound was not detected in any of the samples. Cluster analysis showed that the samples were divided into three groups with markedly different chemical characteristics, and one of the groups collecting from alpine shrublands showed the highest levels of fifteen of these compounds. Redundancy analysis indicated that the compounds had closer relationship with altitude and latitude. This study may be meaningful for the quality assessment and further development of Rh. tanguticum in Qinghai Province.
